Also known as Phuket Race Week, the draw of Cape Panwa Race Week (17-21 July) is ostensibly the sailing – a whirlwind display of  world-class vessels and master mariners – however the regatta parties with free-flowing wine and beer make this a can't-miss event even for landlubbers. Held in the stunning waters around Koh Lon Island to the southeast of Phuket, festivities centre at the beachside gardens of Cape Panwa Hotel. Typically a quiet corner of Thailand's most popular beach destination, the resort is known for offering travellers, royals and celebrities alike a slice of tropical luxury. A social event both on and off the water, 2019 marks the race's 16th year.
