On Thursday 28th February 2019, epicures can savor dynamic vintages from Bodegas Protos paired with imaginative western cuisine and spectacular skyline views — only at Park Society, SO Sofitel Bangkok’s buzzing social hub. The 5-course menu will be matched with a selection of lavish Spanish wines from Bodegas Protos in the wine region Ribera del Duero. Lovers of good food and fine wine are invited to zoom up to the 29th floor, Park Society restaurant of SO Sofitel Bangkok for an evening of swirling and sipping while dining on tantalizing tastes.
Protos means ‘first’ in Greek, denoting Bodegas Protos as the first and foremost winery in Ribera del Duero, which has released some of Spain’s most profound and delicious reds. Vinous highlights of the wine dinner will include Protos Verdej 2015, Protos Roble and Protos Crianza. Benefitting from a diversity of soils, the grapes are harvested from an elevated vineyard by Duero River at Bodegas Protos. This allows Bodegas Protos’ wines to gain unique characteristics that reflect the exceptional terroir. Protos Crianza, for instance, shows a powerful body with fine tannins. Smoky with bright acidity and a strong red-fruit expression. An elegant wine, we recommend.
The sumptuous dinner will make for a romantic occasion for couples, a cozy gathering with friends and a solo tasting experience for oenophiles. The night kicks off with the freshest choice tuna follow by an Iberico pork secreto, a prized cut from the shoulder that is often referred to as Spain’s best-kept secret. A marvellously marbled Wagyu striploin served with a luscious foie gras and cacao sauce follows. With a bit of molecular magic, Chef Joost Bijster will present an edible pearl of virgin cranberry mojito before you end the night with the richest Valhrona chocolate dessert.
