Thais are always happy for an excuse to celebrate, so despite the Buddhist roots, Christmas festivities are enjoyed across the country. Expect dazzling giant trees in front of shopping malls and festive lights everywhere, as well as a happy avalanche of gift-giving and merry-making amongst friends. Visitors and residents of Bangkok have not one, but two Christmas markets to choose from. The German Christmas Market is held annually at the Goethe-Institut Thailand, while the Bonjour French Fair is found at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. Whether your idea of Christmas dinner includes beef, ham or turkey, you shouldn't have to look any further than your nearest 5-star hotel for a decadent holiday banquet.
