With water levels in the country this year at some of their highest, this is the season to experience the thrills of whitewater rafting in the turbulent rivers of the rugged northern region. The Kaeng Hin Phoeng Whitewater Rafting Festival on the Sai Ya River, which continues until the end of October, is renowned as one of the best places to catch these thrills. The hour-long heart-stopping trip through the Kaeng Hin Phoeng rapids includes a fierce whirlpool, but there’s a chance to get your breath back when the waters calm down for a smooth end to the journey.
