Chiang Mai’s Flower Festival 2018 held over the weekend beginning Friday 2 February heralds the end of the northern region’s cool season with the city awash in colourful floral displays. The Festival features a mass of yellow and white chrysanthemums, and the Damask Rose, a variety found only in Chiang Mai. To experience the full flowery ambience, visitors should head to the public garden of Suan Buak Haad, where vendors set up resplendent displays of plants, flowers, orchids and traditional garden decorations. There’s also a noisy Flower Parade with drummers and dancers, and the Miss Chiang Mai Flower Festival contest.
